RICH HARRIS
Rich Harris, a UK-based tattoo artist from Birmingham, began his professional career in 2012 and quickly emerged as a bold and original voice in the tattoo world. In 2014, he founded Dark Horse Collective—a hybrid space functioning as a tattoo studio, art gallery, and seminar hub. Inspired by the underdog spirit of the “dark horse,” the studio became known not just for its talent, but for its commitment to progress, community, and creativity. Over the years, it hosted renowned artists such as Walter Montero, Stevo, Yarson, Ryan Smith, Torsten & Katlin Malm, and Volkan.
Rich soon began developing his own distinctive style—an expressive blend of abstract surrealism, geometry, and graphic elements, grounded in a deep understanding of vibrant color theory. His work quickly earned critical acclaim at tattoo conventions across the UK and Europe, securing Best of Show and top awards in Brussels, Paris, Stockholm, Florence, Milano, and Belfast. One of the highlights of his career came in 2019, when he won Best of Show at the final International London Tattoo Convention, collaborating with a fellow artist on a standout large-scale piece.
April 2023, Rich became the only artist to win two awards at the prestigious Gods of Ink convention—a humbling experience that marked a proud milestone in his career and reflected the continued evolution of his artistic vision.
In September 2023, Rich introduced a new level of one-to-one tattoo workshops where the mentor collaborates directly with the student—a hands-on, high-level format that helped reshape the way many artists approach learning and skill development. This immersive teaching style has since gained momentum across the industry, inspiring a wave of similar educational experiences.
His reputation grew internationally, leading to high-profile collaborations with some of the world’s most respected tattooers, including Alex Pancho, Sandra Daukshta, Deanna, Ben Kaye, Matt Curzon, and Jay Freestyle. In the United States, Rich has traveled extensively for both tattooing and teaching, earning accolades such as Best of Show at Miami Allstars and delivering sought-after seminars to artists across the country.
In 2024, Rich launched the Ibiza Tattoo Retreat—a groundbreaking luxury learning experience bringing elite artists and students together in an immersive villa setting on one of the world’s most creative islands. More than just an educational event, the retreat was designed to spark artistic breakthroughs, authentic connection, and personal evolution.
The first trio of retreats featured some of the most respected names in the industry, including co-host Walter Montero, Torsten and Katlin Malm, Sergey Shanko, Natasha Animal, Boris, and Daria Pirojenko, with Rich curating a full program of masterclasses, collaborations, and community-building sessions. Each retreat is carefully crafted to deliver deep, focused learning while supporting the personal and creative growth of every attending artist.
With its unique mix of high-level tattoo education, inspiring environment, and luxury hospitality, Ibiza Tattoo Retreat has quickly become one of the most sought-after experiences in the industry—setting a new standard for what tattoo education can be.
Now dividing his time between Birmingham and Ibiza, Rich continues to push the boundaries of tattooing—not just as an art form, but as a vehicle for transformation, connection, and creative empowerment. Through his retreats, one-to-one mentorships, international seminars, and ongoing collaborations, he remains dedicated to elevating the craft and guiding the next generation of artists.
With a growing focus on fine art, product design, and creating a fully immersive artistic universe, Rich is building more than a career—he’s shaping a movement rooted in originality, excellence, and the power of surrounding yourself with the right people.
